Anderson Lee Aldrich, the suspect who allegedly killed five people and wounded at least 18 others in the weekend shooting at an LGBTQ nightclub in Colorado, believes he is a criminal, according to a court filing Tuesday. Binary gender and use of “they/them” pronouns night.

Aldridge, 22, is facing multiple murder and hate crime charges in connection with last weekend’s shooting.

However, Aldridge’s public defender revealed that Aldridge was “non-binary” and used the “they/they pronouns,” New York Times reports. In addition to pronouns, Aldridge is also referred to as “Mx. Aldridge” in court documents.

“Anderson Aldridge is non-binary,” record state. “They use their/their pronouns, and for all official document purposes, will be referred to as Mx. Aldridge.”

News of Aldridge’s gender identity came after Democrats and members of the corporate media politicized the shooting and blamed the tragedy on Republicans.

For example, NBC’s Ben Collins claimed that “Republican politicians” and “the internet’s far-right machine” targeted the LGBTQ+ community in the months leading up to the nightclub shooting.

“But I think as journalists we have to have a moment of coming to Jesus,” Collins told MSNBC. “Are we more afraid of saying on Housekaart that trans people should live, or more afraid of dead people? Because I’m more afraid of dead people.”

Democratic Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) slammed Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Bobert as a “bigot,” after Bobert issued a statement condemning the violence in her hometown Shortly thereafter, she motivated the gunman.

“@laurenboebert you were instrumental in elevating anti-LGBT+ hate speech and anti-trans lies while you spent time in Congress blocking even the most common sense gun safety laws,” Ocasio-Cortez tweets. “You can’t ‘thought and pray’ out of it. Look inward and change.”

“Dehumanizing speech leads to dehumanizing behavior, which quickly translates into violence, shootings, assaults, and worse,” Cortes wrote in an Instagram post about Boebert.

Aldridge is due to appear from prison on Wednesday, denver post reports.
