A little over a week after three UVA football players were shot and killed in Charlottesville, Virginia, a mass shooting at a Walmart in Chesapeake, Virginia, reported multiple victims.
As many as 10 people may have been killed in the shooting at a Walmart near Battlefield Boulevard, according to police.
“It’s unclear how many people were killed or injured in the shooting, but police say there are multiple people in both,” WAVY reported.
“The death toll does not exceed 10,” a police spokesman told reporter Michelle Wolf. The suspect allegedly responsible for the horrific crime also died at the scene, according to reports.
“Police are still moving through the building and people are being asked to stay out of the way,” WAVY added. “The call to report the shooting was made at 10:12 p.m. when the Walmart Center was open to the public. There was still a significant police response outside the store with over 40 emergency vehicles outside.”
Police urged the public to stay away from the Walmart as they combed through the scene.
